“ 我が家には「襖越しに猫に話しかけてはいけない」という掟がある。

真夜中、人間が寝静まる頃、遠くからふたつの音が近付いてくる。
とっとっとっとっとっとっと（←猫の足音）
ごろごろごろごろぐるぐるぐるる（←猫の喉音）
それは人間の部屋の前までやってくると、襖を前足で踏み踏み、鼻をふがふが鳴らしつつ、
寝ている人間に愛らしい声で呼びかけてくるのだ。

「なーん（お部屋にいれてよー）」

これは人間が目覚めるまで続けられる。
その愛らしい声に根負けして、そっと戸を開けてやる分には構わない。
だが、戸を開ける前に、決して猫に話しかけてはならない。
猫の添い寝テンションがメントスコーラの如く噴き上がってしまうからだ。

「にゃー！にゃーん！ぐるぐるぐるるうるるふがふが」
（人間いた！一緒に寝る！部屋入る入るったら入ぁうぇ！）

夜の静寂を破るのは、
・襖がバリバリと切り裂かれる音
・襖の骨組みがメキメキバキリと折れる音
・こじ開けた穴を猫が無理矢理潜り抜けるメキメキという音
・猫が部屋へ降り立った、トンという足音

そして呆然とする人間の枕元に、喉をゴロゴロいわせた猫が当然のように
「布団開けて？」と擦り寄ってくる。
人間の腕枕で眠る猫と、隙間風の入り込む破壊された襖。
呆然とする人間の部屋に、真夜中の破壊音に驚いた家族がやってくる。
穴の開いた襖を見られ、人間はしこたま怒られるのだ。
